Is your iPhone 14 Pro Max not receiving emails? we show you several methods to get your emails syncing on your device.
When the Mail app on your iPhone 12 doesn’t refresh or fetch new mail, usually, the issue is with the Mail client not fully downloading an email from the server and thus it cannot be displayed properly. If your iPhone 14 Pro Max mail app is not working, try these fixes to resolve the problem.
Editors note: While this article is about iPhone 14 Pro Max not receiving emails, all the troubleshooting tips discussed below also apply to iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14. Without further ado, let’s get started:
How to fix iPhone 14 Pro Max not receiving e-mails
1. Restart the Mail app
By simply closing the Mail app on your iPhone and relaunching it, you can restart the app so it can communicate with the mail servers again correctly.
- Unlock your iPhone and bring up the App Switcher by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
- Find the Mail app’s card from the list of app cards in the App Switcher and swipe it up so it disappears.
- Open the Mail app again – manually refresh it if you have to.
2. Restart your iPhone
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max is not receiving emails after trying the above step, you should try restarting your phone to give everything a clean start – hopefully, this will get the email to start updating again.
- Simultaneously press and hold the Side button and either of the Volume buttons. Do this until the power off slider appears
- Drag the power off slider from left to right to shut down the phone.
- Press and hold the Side button to restart your iPhone.
Once your iPhone 14 Pro Max is back up and running, open up the mail app to see if it’s fetching new emails. If it doesn’t, continue reading.
3. Toggle airplane mode
This trick is one of the common ways to fix annoying network-related issues including iPhone 14 Pro Max not receiving emails. Here’s what you need to do:
Slide down from the top right corner to bring up the Control Center, then tap the Airplane Mode icon to switch off all of the connectivity features built into your iPhone. This includes WiFi, Bluetooth and Mobile Data. Then switch Airplane Mode back off. This re-enables your internet connection and helps to reset any potential issues.
4. Make sure you are connected to the right wifi
Getting connected to your neighbor’s network instead of yours is a common mistake, especially if they have similar names that consist of random letters and numbers. You might be connected to a restricted network or one that simply doesn’t have the required ports open for email. Make sure you are connected to the correct network by going to Settings > “Wi-Fi”.
5. Manually refresh the Mail app
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max is still not receiving emails, you can then try manually refreshing the app to see if the emails will update.
- Open the Mail app.
- Drag your finger down on the screen and release it once the spinning wheel becomes full. You will know it’s time to release your finger when you feel your iPhone vibrate as you drag the finger down.
- Wait for the Mail app to refresh.
6. Check Mail Fetch settings
Your phone’s default settings for fetching new emails are based on the settings available through your email provider. If your provider doesn’t support Push notifications (where emails are sent to your phone as they arrive, in real time), it will automatically enable Fetch (where your phone retrieves emails regularly at preset times).
These settings impact how your phone receives emails. To adjust them:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Mail.
- Tap Accounts.
- Tap Fetch New Data.
- Make sure the toggle for Push is turned on – if it has a gray background, tap it so it becomes green, meaning it’s turned on. You can also adjust how often data is “fetched” on this page.
7. Check Notification Settings
It’s possible you might be receiving emails without being notified. To ensure that you’re receiving the email notifications you want, check your notification settings. To do this:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Notifications.
- Tap Mail.
- Tap Customize Notifications.
- Select the email account you want to customize notifications for.
- Adjust alerts, sounds, and badges.
8. Check for iOS update
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max won’t receive emails after trying the above solutions, check to ensure you are running the latest iOS version on your phone.
- Open settings.
- Tap General.
- Select software update.
9. Access emails using a computer
If you have multiple email accounts set up on your iPhone, check to see if you can access email from a different account. If you can, then the problem may be the email provider or account you were trying to access before. In an Internet-connected world, things still go wrong and online services occasionally go down. Access the email account from a computer to test if the problem is the service provider or device.
10. Delete and re-add email account
It could be that not all the email accounts attached to the Mail app are failing to update, except for one or two. If your iPhone 14 Pro Max is not receiving emails, you can try removing the problematic accounts and re-adding them to see if they start updating again.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Mail.
- Tap Accounts.
- Tap the troublesome account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Tap Delete from My iPhone.
- You will then be returned to the Accounts page. Tap Add Account and follow instructions to re-add the email account.
11. Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max is not receiving emails,it could be that the Mail app is not refreshing its content in the background. It’s best to check if you have enabled Background App Refresh.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap General.
- Tap Background App Refresh.
- Check where it says Background App Refresh at the top. If it’s set to Off, tap the option.
- Choose how you want the content of apps to be updated in the background – tap either Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi & Mobile Data.
12. Check that your email address and password are entered correctly
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max is not getting emails, your password could be incorrect — if you changed your password on another device, you’ll need to change it on your iPhone, too.
When the Mail application prompts you to re-enter your password, ensure that you’ve entered it correctly.
13. Uninstall and reinstall the Mail app
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max won’t receive emails after trying all the above troubleshooting steps, try deleting the Mail app and then reinstalling it again.
- Press and hold the Mail app’s icon on the Home screen.
- Tap Remove App in the pop-up.
- Tap Delete App.
- Tap Delete.
14. Contact your email provider for support
If your iPhone 14 Pro Max still isn’t receiving emails, it’s time to get some direct tech support for your email problems. A good first step is to check with your email provider (Google for Gmail, Yahoo for Yahoo Mail, etc.). Each email provider has different ways to provide support, but a good bet is to log into your email account on the web and then look for links like Help or Support.
