Causes of Slow Wi-Fi on an iPhone 14 Pro

Because a wireless network has many parts, including a modem, a router, and the devices that you use to access the internet, a dip in speed could have a few different causes.

Before you restart the router to improve the speed of the Wi-Fi signal to your iPhone 14 Pro, find out where the problem is. Connect to the wireless network from two different devices, such as a laptop and the iPhone, from the same spot in your house. See if both devices are having trouble, or only one.

How to Fix Slow Wi-Fi on iPhone 14 Pro

If the iPhone 14 Pro is the problem, here are some steps to fix it.

Move closer to the router

If you’re in a separate room (or level of the house) from the wireless hardware, it’s possible that the signal isn’t strong enough by the time it reaches you. Walls and floors can diminish a Wi-Fi signal and make it weaker in different parts of a house, even if you’re in range.

Move your iPhone closer to the router and see if the signal strength improves. If the connection is speedy near the router but slows down in distant rooms, boost the signal strength.

Use an app to test the internet speed

An internet speed test determines how fast the internet is running on a device. To compare your iPhone’s internet speed to a laptop, download the wi-Fi Speedtest app on your iPhone and test it against the website version of Speedtest on the laptop.

If the speed test shows a fast connection on your devices, the website you’re connecting to may have a connection problem. Connect to a popular website such as Google to see if the performance issues persist.

Reboot your iPhone

To reboot your iPhone 14 Pro, hold the Side button and either the volume buttons to display the slide to power off option. After the iPhone is dark for a minute, press the Side button to power it back up.

Choose the correct network

If rebooting your iPhone didn’t solve the slow Wi-Fi issue, reset the information the iPhone stores about your network. Launch the iPhone Settings app and tap Wi-Fi to locate your Wi-Fi network.

The network you’re using is listed at the top of the screen with a check mark next to it. If no network is listed, you aren’t connected to a Wi-Fi network. If the wrong Wi-Fi network is listed, that could explain why your iPhone 14 Pro Wi-Fi is slow.

Forget your Wi-Fi network and sign back in

To forget a network, tap the blue i with the circle around it that’s located to the right of the network name. A screen that shows the Wi-Fi network information appears. Tap Forget This Network.

You can only forget a network you’re connected to.

Instead of connecting again immediately, reboot your iPhone Settings to ensure nothing holds over in memory before you connect again. When the iPhone boots up, go back to Settings, choose your Wi-Fi network, and enter the password.

Reboot your router

I know you’ve heard this over and over again, but it’s a method that usually works. It is possible that your router is running out of memory or using up a lot of CPU cycles, and a restart allows things to go back to normal. To reboot a router, turn it off for a minute or unplug it from the wall for a minute. Based on your router, it may take a few minutes for the Wi-Fi network to be visible again on your iPhone.

Contact your internet provider

If your router is broken or old, they may replace it free of charge. The problem could also be with the internet coming into your house or apartment rather than with the router. Your provider may have more information about outages or additional troubleshooting steps.

Reset the network settings

If resetting the router doesn’t work either, then you have to reset your phone’s network settings. Doing so will flush all saved Wi-Fi networks, mobile data settings, and paired Bluetooth devices. Basically, you’re starting over when it comes to network connectivity, but you don’t have to erase the data on your phone. To do so. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or reset iPhone > Reset > reset network settings.

Reset your iPhone to Factory defaults

Before you reset your iPhone to factory defaults, back up your iPhone. Then, restore the iPhone from that backup.

If you’re still seeing issues, get a better router

If you’re still facing slow Wi-Fi issues on your iPhone 14 Pro, then it’s possible your router may not be powerful enough to deliver a reliable signal throughout your house. If you got a router for free with your internet plan, it is a good time to make the switch to a more powerful model that will deliver much better performance. A router is a sizeable investment, but one you’ll have to make every four years or so. Just make sure you get one of the best wireless routers available.
